Contradictory Resurrection Accounts?

When Tovia Singer put his counter-missionary MP3's on his website, I thought I would have time before the Easter/Passover season to go over his lecture on the Resurrection accounts. Well, I haven't gone over it.

But I'm pretty sure this is the gist: the Resurrection accounts contradict each other.

Well, there was an article about the Resurrection in the Washington Post. I read the following about alleged contradictions in it:
"Some are easy and some I don't know how to reconcile," said Davis, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA). "They were different stories that got talked about and talked about, so its not surprising there would have been some discrepancies. But there's tremendous agreement on the basic facts."

Any discrepancies can be "eliminated by a straight-up reading of the text," said James Emery White, president of the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, a evangelical school in South Hamilton, Mass.

Here is an article that approaches the topic with more depth than this blog entry will attempt.

But even after all this, I have a feeling that Tovia Singer may still have a problem even if I grant contradictions (which I don't). But I won't prejudge what I haven't listed to. Hopefully, more on that later.

Tovia Singer on Way of the Master Radio

Tovia singer was interviewed in the first half hour of last Monday's Way of the Master Radio. Mp3 file can be found here.

Two interesting things. First Rabbi Singer thinks Gentile Christians are going to hell. Frankly, that doesn't bother me in the slightest. But it is still interesting.

The second interesting thing was how Rabbi Singer tried to deflect the host's appeal to the demands of the Law and the need for sacrificial atonement. I called in the show today, Friday, and you can find the Mp3 file of the show and my call here. I was the first call taken in the day.

Tovia Singer Providing Audio of "Let's Get Biblical" Series on His Website

Anti-missionary Tovia Singer, of Outreach Judaism, released his well-known series of responses on the Internet for free. I'm appreciative of that, since I don't feel like paying for it.

Now, I did a once-over of the tapes. I would surmise that I've heard a lot of these arguments before, even in the comments sections of this blog. The Psalm 110 lecture struck me, because I remember someone commenting about that section in the July/August timeframe. I'm under the impression they were repeating anti-missionary arguments they heard.

I would assume that there isn't anything in here that isn't addressed in Dr. Michael Brown's excellent books.

However, I'm going to try and find the time to sit down and listen to some of these and maybe create a few posts from this.

I may concentrate on Tovia Singer's lectures on the Resurrection, since that is an area of apologetics I know a good bit about. And I would direct you all to the aforementioned books by Dr. Brown.

Jews for Jesus also had an article concerning the tape series which can be found here.
