God's Promises, the Messiah, and Christmas

Christmas is about the first coming of the Messiah. It is about the fulfillment of a series of promises that God made.

R.C. Sproul had very good broadcasts on this topic this week. Follow the link above to listen to them. They should be posted for a little while.

Dr. Sproul discusses the promises to Eve, Abraham, Judah, Jeremiah, and Isaiah. It is interesting to notice the progression of the promise of the Messiah as pieces of the puzzle fell into place over time.

The mentioning of a coming Messiah throughtout the Bible is evident I agree but recently I read through different perspectives on Daniel 9:24-27 which claim it was n ot a messianic prophecy. It appears this is nothing new and has been debated for awhile whether it was Cyrus who was anointed in these verses or it was The Messiah spoken about. How does the Hebrew translate and with that answer could it be possible it has been adjusted to fit a certain perspective over time? What is the oldest Hebrew version we have and do disagreeing parties look at this same text?
